What is digital equity?

According to the National Digital Inclusion Alliance, digital equity is when everyone has what they need to fully participate in online elements of society as they choose.

My research attempts to break the concept of digital equity down into three major pillars: access, literacy, and citizenship. As both a macro- and micro-level social worker, I have tied together the guiding principles of social work ethics into these pillars to deliver a strong call to action for social workers on all levels: digital equity is a social justice issue!

I have published both scholarly articles and book chapters related to digital equity.

Also a prolific speaker, I have held presence at national conferences on rural social work, distance education, and social work ethics. I am frequently invited by state and local organizations to present on digital equity issues, including the Digital Gardener Summit, Indiana Veteran's Affairs, and the Indiana Rural Health Association.
