TEACHING

Philosophy & Experience

My teaching philosophy is deeply rooted in critical feminism and post-colonialism. I believe that it is vital to dismantle hierarchies, power dynamics, classism, and the paternalistic nature of academia in order for all students to excel while developing robust academic standards on their own terms. I also bring a strong trauma-informed pedagogy to my teaching and understand safety and wellbeing must come before any learning is possible.

As an adjunct faculty, I primarily teach online, asynchronous telehealth courses to MSW students. Through a Curriculum Enhancement Grant from Indiana University, I have co-developed and teach the first course of its kind: Digital Equity and Data Justice in the MSW Direct Social Work curriculum. I have also successfully completed the Preparing Future Faculty and Professionals program at IU and am a 2022 Emerging Scholars of College Instruction Program graduate. I have experience as an academic guest lecturer and have also taught in non-academic settings including the medical field and the juvenile court system.
